Slippery Elm Powder 100g

Slippery Elm Powder 100g

Slippery Elm powder has been used traditionally as a nourishing evening drink which soothes and relaxes the stomach. Often used to settle acid stomachs. See more information  [+] Slippery elm powder may be made into a paste with warm water and a little honey and eaten after meals to settle the stomach. It may be mixed with hot milk to make a late night drink, although I have found it difficult to remove the lumps, you may need to blend it. I think the paste is quite palatable, especially if you mix in some ginger, honey or liquorice. It may be added to food but tends to make things go brown. My patients find that it is excellent for acid indigestion, calming the stomach wonderfully.

Psyllium Seeds (100g)

Psyllium Seeds (100g)

Psyllium Seeds (Plantage psyllium). Psyllium seeds are used to help regulate the bowels. See more information  [+] Useful for both diarrhoea and constipation. They gather moisture around the seeds to soften and bulk the stool giving relief from bowel problems. They also help with the peristalsis in the large intestines. They should be taken in the morning with breakfast (porridge, yoghurt or banana are helpful to mix with them). One of my patients said that she spilled some and her husband thought they had mice. So take care when serving as when wet they also stick like glue to kitchen surfaces.
